To the athlete who is seeking success in Cross Country and Track and Field

The success of your efforts depends not so much on the efforts themselves, many have great effort, but rather on your motive for reaching your goals you want to reach, your passion. The greatest teams and the greatest athletes in all sports have achieved their greatness out of desire to express something within themselves that had to be expressed, a desire to break a record, to win a championship or using their skills as best they could. The key to their successes was that they were energized more by strong enthusiasm, a passion to be great in their running, than by any thought of awards or rewards.

An athlete’s greatness, even though there may have been motivation by the coach, parent or friends, the real motivating factor has come from within, in spite of all the planning and training one has had the real success comes from the drive within. The champion, the successful one has that strong desire to be great. The great can vision themselves as being that great one. The image of greatness is the mind-set you have and it is individually belonging to you, it is yours.

One must decide from within themselves what it is they want to be and achieve not just to have a better team but to be the best I can be because that is what I want and then hopefully, being the upcoming Cross Country season, have four, five or six others with the same passion and obsession to be the best they can be. Then and then only will you have a great team. A great team comes from great individuals with the internal motivation to be good and therefore contributing to the team. When you have passion to be good you get great power from within and when you have a team of athletes that have the power from within to be great. You will have a team that will be very hard to beat.

Good luck on the upcoming season and hopefully everyone and every team who has that desire to be excellent have been preparing themselves with a good base for the fast approaching season.
