May 13th – Outdoor Season Top 25 Performance Lists Shaping Up!
As we enter the post-season with Girls Sectionals on Tuesday, May 20th and boys the following Thursday, the top 25 performance lists are beginning to reflect those who will be competing in Bloomington just about 3 weeks from now.
Looking down the lists, many performances stick out as especially impressive. For the boys, Justin Veteto’s 14.01 110m hurdle time already matches his 2013 state leading time. Also, Ben Veatch’s 9:05 3200m run from Eastern Relays was a remarkable improvement from his previous personal best as well as a state best. Gary West Side is running relays like they are ready to walk away with multiple state championships, currently leading the state in the 4×100 (41.94) and the 4×400 (3:20.70). Lastly on the boys side, Deakin Volz’s 17’0″ pole vault is the #3 performance all-time in Indiana and just 1.5 inches off of the All-Time State Record!
On the girls side, freshman Lynna Irby has a lot of people talking. She is currently ranked 1st in the 100 (12.05), and 200 (24.84), as well as second in the 400 (56.29). Anna Rohrer has distance runners around the state extremely excited as she has made her return to the track, running 10:37.02 for 3200m. Janae Moffitt’s 5’10.50″ High Jump is the #6 jump All-Time in our state. Last but not least, Adriana Brown of Lawrence Central is leading both the shot put (48’00”) and discus (164’00”).
Here’s to looking forward to another great Indiana State Meet weekend!
