January 6th – Indiana Runner Distance Showcase Entries Now Open!

Entries for the 2015 Indiana Runner Distance Showcase are now open through February 4th at 6:00 pm.

The meet, which features 100’s of Indiana and other Midwestern distance runners including some of the best our area has to offer will take place at Wabash College on February 7th, 2015 beginning at 12:00 pm EST. This will be the second straight year the meet has found it’s home at Wabash College.

The meet will continue to host the same events as years past, including a 1200m run, 3200m run, 800m run, Community Mile (For everyone!), Mile, and Distance Medley Relay. As always, entertainment and vendors will be on hand making this meet an experience that’s more than “just a track meet”.

At IR, we look forward every year to providing one of the best social atmospheres, conducive to fast racing early in the season at an affordable cost of just $7 per event. Don’t miss out as we continue to improve our meet for our own Indiana Runners!

This year, IR is promoting the “Indiana DMR Challenge.” What’s the Challenge? Putting together a relay team capable of running the fastest ever indoor Indiana high school Distance Medley Relay. The target times are 10:11.67 for the boys (run by Westfield in 2011) and 12:11.16 for the girls (run by Westfield in 2007). Elite Indiana athletes from around the State will be looking to put together their own “All Star” teams for a shot at their own record books! As a fan, you won’t want to miss this!

Additionally, Indiana Runner will be promoting another exciting event, as we try to determine “The Fastest Coach in Indiana.” As part of the Community Mile which gives parents, fans, and everyone else a chance to race at the IRDS, Indiana Runner will be comping entries for any and all coaches wishing to participate and crown themselves “Indiana’s Fastest Coach” for one year. Awards will be given both for men and women.

As a final note, we want to share our thoughts and prayers with the Marriott family. Lindsey Marriott, a sophomore standout runner at Leo High School in Northeast Indiana, suffered a brain aneurysm last week while vacationing in Florida with her family. Indiana Runner will be donating 10% of all profits from the Distance Showcase to the Marriott family as they focus on the Lindsey’s recovery.
