January 27th – New Bag of Tricks at the IR Distance Showcase!
There’s just a few days left until the Fourth Annual Indiana Runner Distance Showcase at the University of Indianapolis. Entries closed late Saturday
night with the maximum number of participants signed up to compete.
For the second straight year, over 600 high school athletes from around Indiana will compete in 5 girls and 5 boys events. A performance list is expected to be released no later than Monday with the official heat sheets coming later in the week. Also, for the first year, the Indiana Runner Distance Showcase will be a USATF Sanctioned Event.
In addition to a great racing atmosphere, fresh with great music, banners, concessions, and announcing, the IRDS will welcome a variety of vendors, sponsored give-a-ways, new gear sales, and more!
The meet will welcome the following vendors, who will set up tents, sell gear, and advertise services to the running community:
addition to our fantastic vendors and sponsors, Indiana Runner will give athletes multiple chances to take home a token to remember the great experience. For one, each participant’s bib will be custom printed with the IR logo for the first time. These bibs are compliments of Active Indy Tours. An example of the bib is below:
For the second year, Indiana Runner will have a presence in apparel sales as well. This year, Indiana Runner will be featuring their newly printed ‘Run Your Region‘ Shirts as well as stylish new IR Distance Showcase event T-shirts for 2013.
Anyone who purchases an IRDS event T-shirt will receive one entry into a drawing to win a USATF backpack. Anyone purchasing a Run Your Region shirt will receive two entries. A picture of the bags, which are a new release for USA Track and Field is below. Two bags will be given away throughout the meet.
Indiana Runner is excited to be debuting a new item in our apparel sales. We will be selling our new IR “We Run This State” custom wristbands. A rough draft of the wristbands, set to come in later this week is below. They will be sold for just $3!
For the first time, Indiana Runner will be hosting a ‘Community Mile‘. The race will be held just prior to the girls IR mile. It is open to anyone over 18 years old. More information can be found in the link above. The men’s and women’s winners of the Community Mile will win gift cards to Runner’s Forum!
particular interest and excitement to fans will be the invite IR Miles. Both boys and girls races will look to go after the meet records of 4:17.40 and 5:18.45. They will be rabbited by Team Indiana Elite’s De’Sean Turner and the Indiana Invader’s Sarah Bromagem.
Turner graduated from Warren Central High School and Indiana University. He was the sixth Hoosier native to break the four minute mile barrier and just this past weekend, broke it for the second time at Indiana Relays. Bromagem was Anderson Universities top middle distance runner.
This year’s meet is sure to carry on the legacy as one of the most exciting indoor meets in Indiana. We hope you enjoy our meet and good luck Saturday, February 2nd!
