The Indiana Invaders, a professional elite track development team, will be hosting the 8th annual American Milers Club Series Meets during the first two weeks of June.

The “AMC” Meets as they are often referred to will take place at the historic Michael A. Carroll Stadium on the I.U.P.U.I campus. The exact address is 1001 West New York Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46202. If you have not been to a meet at Carroll Stadium, we strongly encourage you to attend. The facility, which was built in 1982, has hosted both the 2006 and 2007 USA Track and Field Championships, while having also hosted the 1988 Olympic Team Trials – Track and Field, IHSAA Lacrosse State Championships, multiple IHSAA Track and Field State Championships, the Horizon League Championships, and the 2001 World Police and Fire Games.

This years meets will be held on June 6th, 9th, 13th, and 19th. Events competed on all days are as follows:

The AMC series is set up to provide opportunities for Elite athletes to run times capable of qualifying themselves for the Olympic Trials held June 22nd through July 1st, 2012. The meet boasts a strong history of qualifying athletes for major National events. In previous seasons, the meet has hosted many big names, including, Alan Webb, Duane Solomon, Morgan Uceny, Nate Brannen, Anna Willard, Shannon Rowbury, Josh McAdams, and Christian Smith just to name a few. For a full list of the top 50 times ever run in each event at AMC meets, look here: http://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?do=title&title_id=513&event_id=147. In addition to Olympic caliber athletes, the meet also attracts recent Indiana graduates, wishing to run against the best in the world! Indiana University, Notre Dame, Purdue University as well as others generally send a very good contingent of athletes to the AMC Meets!

This years meets promise to boast entry lists the likes of which have never been seen in the series. With the 2012 Olympic Trials quickly approaching, athletes will be looking to lock in their spot in the Trials! Leading times thus far entered for the AMC Meets are as follows:

Men: 800: 1:45/ 1500: 3:35/ Steeple: 8:19/ 5000m: 13:34

Women: 800: 2:01/1500: 4:06/Steeple: 9:42/5000m: 15:35

Entry lists which are updated daily as entries are received can be found here: http://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?do=title&title_id=357&event_id=147

The time schedule for the meets is unavailable at this time, however, meets are generally held late in the evening with the start of the “Open” races usually between 7:30-9:00 pm. “Open” races are generally held prior to the “Invitational” races and feature athletes on the cusp of becoming National Caliber. Many times, athletes will run in an Open race in order to qualify for a future Invitational race. All Invitational races are held “under the lights”, allowing for the high summer temperatures to drop and the wind to die down providing the best possible racing experience. Exact time schedule will be released by the day prior to the meet, after receiving all entries and when a general idea of the weather forecast is available.

Spectators are encouraged to attend. There’s no better place to see runners only previously seen on television in person in our own backyard! The atmosphere at AMC Meets is always electric, providing excitement for both the fans as well as the athletes! The mood is always positive, and athletes are usually available for autographs and pictures post race. Nowhere will you be able to watch athletes of this caliber for just $5!

Coach, wanted to email you to see if it would be possible to run a women’s 200 race at the June 16th date of your meets (or really any of them)? We have Adella King who has hit the Olympic B (wind legal) and ran 23.08 with an illegal wind we are trying to get into a really fast race to move her up on the qualifying list.
Other Midwest athletes like Ashley spencer at Illinois, Alexis Love at Murray state, and shelisa Crawford Columbus state might all be looking for a fast meet o get in as well. Anything you would consider?
