Monday 5/14
My advice to those reading this is to not switch the type of shoes toward the end of the season. I train in the neutral brooks glycerin. I thought that i should try some more minimal shoes for workouts and such. I did a couple easy runs in them and just didnt feel right, so after some more runs i switched back to the glycerin’s. I had started to feel my heel hurting on Saturday’s long run but didnt think that much about it. This workout i really felt my arch flaring up so i had to cut it short. The workout was 12×200 and i got through 7 before having to go on the bike where i did 10x(1 on 1 off). It was actually painful to walk on so i got a bit worried. For the next couple days i rolled my foot with a golf ball before, during, and after school. Thankfully the pain was gone by sectionals thursday.

Tuesday 5/15 and Wednesday 5/16
Swam and aqua jogged tuesday and then ran an easy 4 with handoffs Wednesday.

Thursday 5/17
The question for us for awhile has been who is going to run the 800 for the tournament. We all agreed that whoever had the best pr would end up running it. My chance to get that pr was Conference, and i did not quite get down to the other guys. Since i was out of the 800 i ran the 1600, and to help me, the other guys ran the 4×8 with Brandon Vu instead of me. He held his own well and had a huge pr going 2:01. For the mile, the strategy was to let the leaders take me through the 400 before i would decide what to do from there. We went out in 70 which wasnt quite what i was wanting so i went to the lead at 500. Since the most versitle man out there, Passmore, was behind me i knew i would have to try and string out the race. I went through the next 400 at :68, the 3rd was at :65. I couldnt shake 2 guys off me and with 300 left in the race, both Passmore, and Rondot from brownsburg started to kick past me. I tried to go with them but my legs said no. I caught wyatt with 100 left but he had another gear and edged me out at the line. Last lap i ended up going :65 to run a 4:28. I came back in the 4×4 and ran 3:26, winning by 6 seconds. I could go to regionals in the 1600 but i scratched to focus on the 4×8 and 4×4, which we also have a better chance of qualifying for state in.

Friday 5/18
Got to escape the heat and go to the park with the twins and Taylor Klein.

Saturday 5/19
Tried to do a tougher workout, but i guess we just weren’t up for it. None of us were hitting the times so we did a long cooldown and called it a day.

Sunday 5/20
Nice and easy 4

Monday 5/21
Had an easy cutdown interval workout. 600, 500, 400, 300, 300, 200, 200. 600-400 at mile pace, getting quicker each one. 300′s and 200′s at 800 pace. The mile pace felt great, but i was feeling a little laggy on the quicker stuff. I think i might just be turning into a distance runner.. oh boy.. haha.

Im watching the updates of the girls regional races and im quite impressed. There should be some great competition come June 1st. I have never advanced to the state meet for either cross country or track, so this week is big for me and the guys on the relays. Good luck to everyone and God bless, whatever happens, His plan is bigger than ours.
