Elena Lancioni Blog – 9/14/2012 – Bob Thomas Invite
>
9-10-12This past week, I had my first two big invites of the year! I am very excited for the New Prairie Invitational this weekend! I can’t wait! I really enjoy running at New Prairie, I love courses with woods. I feel like I can just go run without everyone watching me, and I always feel like I am flying through the woods.
Monday 9/3: One of my teammates, Lauren Sterling, and I decided to run somewhere different
on the grass. We ran about 5 miles at New Prairie.
Tuesday 9/4: Dual meet at home against Crown Point, I paced one of my teammates during the race. Workout afterwards. 6 miles.
Wednesday 9/5: Easy, relaxing 10 miles
Thursday 9/6: Workout! 6×500 on the course. 5.5 miles
Friday 9/7: Pre-race. Warm-up. Stretching, plyos, & strides. 1k at goal pace. Cooldown. 4.5 miles.
Saturday 9/8: Bob Thomas Invitational. This was my first time running at this invite. I haven’t had to worry for a long time about running on a new course! It was such a perfect day to race, sunny and cool. It has been so warm lately, that a cool day was such a much needed gift. I thought that this course was quite nice, there weren’t really any hills and there were some woods to run through too! Today was Emma, my family’s foreign exchange student, first race. It was really neat being able to watch her run and just think about how truly wonderful racing can be. It was a successful day for my team, we finished second, and we have come quite a long way since my freshman year! I am so proud of my team and what we have accomplished so far this year.
Sunday 9/9: Longer run of 10 miles at Sunset Hills in Chesterton. It was another ideal runner’s day with the sun shining and cooler temperature!
Good luck to everyone this next weekend with larger meets! Hopefully, this nice, fall weather sticks around!
