Caleb Kerr 5/2/2012 Blog – Ramping His Mileage Back Up

Caleb Kerr - Senior - Evansville North

I decided not to include last weeks logs because quite frankly I forgot to record them. I had my senior project presentation, prom, 2 major invitationals, the Academic Super Bowl area competition, and 2 lacrosse games so logging runs wasn’t in the front of my mind. I think I ended up with around 60 miles but I’m not sure. Tuesday was the Kentucky/Indiana challenge where I ran a solid 4×8-3200 double. I ran a 1:59 and change anchor split to help the team place second, then ran inside Harrison High School to compete in the Academic Super Bowl competition for Southern Indiana. After completing my nerdy activities, I came back to run a solo 9:29 3200 which I wasn’t completely satisfied with but I can’t really complain about running only my second sub-9:30. Friday was a bit more disappointing. I wasn’t feeling great going into a stacked 1600 given the 40 degrees and raining weather and the fact that I played a triple OT lacrosse game the night before (which we won btw). Connor Sorrells absolutely manhandled the field and my head was just never in the race from the gun. I finished with a PR-matching 4:26 but I was hoping for something more like 4:18. After being so soundly beaten, I decided this week to increase my mileage back up to where it was during the winter. It’s obvious to me that I will need more strength before June and I can’t take a state berth for granted with Connor, Tyson Mundy, Jackson Bertoli, and Tyler Schickel all in my regional among other great athletes.
