Boys State Meet Preview
Wednesday, June 2, 2010
Stephen Bain
The stage is set, and so are my final predictions. Lawrence Central takes over the team favorite spot, but it will be a close contest. Read all about it here, and remember to tune into IndianaRunner.com to watch the state meet live.
State Meet Week is Upon Us
Monday, May 31, 2010
Colin Altevogt
As we gear up for the best weekend of the year for track & field enthusiasts in Indiana, we begin with our state finals preview articles. The first is an analysis of the field events at the upcoming girls state track & field championships. Don't have much interest in field events? Well, you should this year because one team could win a state title with nearly all of its points away from the track. The second takes a look at the track events and how the team race might shape up through the course of the evening.

The sectional helped teach me a lot about what athletes were planning on doing. I have hopped on the FW Snider Bandwagon for the team victory, and if you read this, you will know why!

It is a lengthy read, but it goes event by event with some stories entering the tournament. I hope you enjoy and will share your friendly criticisms on the board. I will update it after each round.

GIRLS - Nine Questions
Good News --- Live Video for State Meet
Tuesday, May 4, 2010
Stephen Bain
Today I confirmed good news on a project I have been working to get to gether. IndianaRunner.com, and IHSAASports.org are going to be combining forces to bring a live video feed of the state meet. Colin and I will be broadcasting, and it will be streamed live to the site. We are working out the final details, but would like to be able to get a few interviews in, and some analysis of what is going on in the state. I am sure you will hear other random track/xc talk as well throughout the day. We are happy that we will be able to bring the state meet to those who are not able to make the trip to Bloomington.

SHOCK THE STATE
New Rankings
Sunday, March 28, 2010
Stephen Bain
Sorry for the delay in getting the rankings posted (at bottom of page). If anybody follows college basketball, they may have figured out I am caught in Butler Mayhem right now. Nonetheless, the rankings shifted slightly at the top. Traditional powers Warren Central and Ben Davis have claimed the top spots on the Boys side. Meanwhile, Pike flip flops with Warren Central on teh girls side for the #2 spot, while Northrop holds onto the top notch. Enjoy the kick off to the outdoor season, and look for more fast times to be coming out soon!
Outdoor Season is Coming
Friday, March 26, 2010
Stephen Bain
After the HSR Finals, the outdoor season is finally on its way in. After spring breaks for the schools, the real racing can begin. Two premeire meets that we will be focusing on are the Franklin Central Miracle Mile (featuring stacked mile fields, plus 4x4s and 4x8s) and the Warren Central Throwers Showcase to be held the same night. We are posting updated line ups for both meets as we receive them. I feel that both of these are great meets for the sport mid-season, as they may turn out to have better results than the state finals!
New rankings are being posted shortly today as well.
NEW State Leader on Boys Side
Thursday, March 18, 2010
Stephen Bain
There is a new leader in the state rankings on the Boys side, and that is Lawrence Central. After opening up with some huge performances, they have climbed to the #1 spot. Previous #1, North Central, now sits in the 2nd ranking.
The girls are also updated, but had little movement at the top of the poll.
The 4A-5A Heat Sheets for HSR can be found here.
Indiana Represented well on National Stage, HSR Shapes up
Monday, March 15, 2010
Stephen Bain
Waverly Neer, Alejandro Arroyo and Connor Martin (Culver, Culver, Westfield) traveled together out to Boston to compete at the Nike Indoor National meet this past weekend, all to claim All-American finishes in the 5k races (Arroyo and Neer also set school records in the mile). They have been kind enough to give very brief summaries of their experiences.
Also earning All-American honors was Travis Jauregui of Bellmont in the high jump, with a jump of 6'6.25".
Not to be outshined, many other athletes competed in Boston which can be seen here: http://indianarunner.informe.com/forum/results-f5/nike-indoor-nationals-ma-3-14-10-t1588.html
The NSIC Meet also included many Indiana athletes which is easiest to view on the message board here: http://indianarunner.informe.com/forum/results-f5/national-scholastic-championships-ny-3-14-10-t1586.html
The rankings have been updated for the girls, and I am working on getting a small write up done for the HSR meet if heat sheets are released in a reasonable time.
Boys Rankings Released
Saturday, March 10, 2010
Stephen Bain
I hope that everybody has been comforting Coach Cash after his loss of pre-season rankings. However, he has put together a list again of the top 55 teams, as we enter the season.
Also, I had these links sent to me. I feel that some have been previously posted, but I will post them here for the enjoyment of the readers.
They are stories about some of the best teams in the century, in the nation... including many Indiana teams.

Long Awaited Update
Saturday, March 6, 2010
Stephen Bain
I am sorry for the delay in updating the site. A few things stopped it from happening. 1) The host to this site has been running slow lately, not sure why. 2) It was a dead part in the season. 3) I simply was failing to budget my time properly. For all of these reasons, I would like to apologize.
However, I do have good news. First, Dr. Gordon has released an article concerning shin splints. I strongly encourage that all athletes, parents and coaches take a quick glance at this article. It is an enjoyable and brief read. It gives very valuable information for coaches to learn when they can have their athletes push through the pain, and when the pain needs to be attended to.
Coach Cash is putting the finishing touches on his rankings. He had 350 teams ranked (with comments/stats included), until his computer crashed and has been receiving help for his depression. He has now recovered and is rebuilding a list that will not be quite as extensive, but still exciting to see. He will also be releasing his Boys 4x400 predictions in the upcoming days.
HSR Qualifying has begun and Mike has been working on organizing results all winter long in the results forum. Make sure you check out the Indoor Leaderboards. They are updated nearly every day.
Thanks for your patience during the down time of the site, and I am excited for the track season to really begin now.
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
Stephen Bain
Heat Sheets for this Friday's Indiana Runner Distance Showcase are now released. I will be working on an expected time schedule for the event.
There is a poor weather forecast. Be careful in your travels, and the meet will be on this night regardless of the weather. I look forward to meeting many new faces, and seeing great competition this Friday.
Track Preview Continues

Cash opens up his girls preview with the 4x100 relay, just as he did for the boys.
Also for those discussing minimalism on the message board, I am posting this article that was sent to me by Coach Guillen.

Doctor's Advice
Sunday, January 10, 2010
Stephen Bain
We have a doctor who has volunteered to join our community here at Indiana Runner. He is going to be helping tackle issues and concerns about our sport and help provide a better understanding of how and why things work in the human body. Enjoy his first topic on stretching for runners on our new Doctor's Advice page.

Decade's Best Lists

Colin Altevogt
As 2009 has ended, we are now beginning our countdowns of some of the best things in Indiana high school cross country and track & field over the last ten years. The first installment in this series is a list of the Top Ten Girls Cross Country Runners over the last ten years. Stay tuned for more of these lists in the upcoming future.
Track Season is Upon Us!
Monday, December 28, 2009
Stephen Bain
It is safe to say that the cross country season is behind us, and that the track season is here. With that, I have cleared the update board. But you can find the old update board here hidden in our archives that will be organized in the future. We have successfully been keeping track of our old material, although it can still be improved.
As you can see at the top of the website, I am going to be hosting an indoor track meet at Anderson University on February 5th. Registration closes in about a month, which means you need to hurry up and get yourself registered. There should be great competition in every event from the elite to those looking to check their fitness before the season begins. Come into a great distance atmosphere and meet some friends and foes.
Lastly, Colin and I (really just me) are finishing all of our All-Decade team lists. Expect these to begin being released after the New Year. We will have top 10 Individuals, top 10 teams, and top 10 programs on both the boys and girls side.
I hope you have enjoyed my first season of being an administrator. The site had the highest numbers I have seen in page views this year, which is a great indicator of success. We hopefully will continue to improve this next season as well. I just wanted to quickly thank all of our viewers for viewing, discussing, and supporting the site and sport.
