Four Important Tips To Runners

By:  Coach Welch

1. Mental toughness.

This is what separates Winners from Losers... Excellence from Mediocrity. The 2 main elements are: “Persistent... Bounce Back ability”, this means being committed and being able to go the distance; and having a “No Limits Attitude”...going through the finish line today, this is not the end, because there will always be another finish line.

2. Think bigger, Be better, Aim Higher - nothing is impossible.

Always keep in mind the four letter word N-E-X-T. Next training session...next competition...tomorrow. Learning from yesterday is important, but you have to plan for the next challenge more than anything else in being an excellent runner.

3. Look after your Abilities and Potential. Pay attention to the proper Recovery... proper Backoff sessions... numbers and Quality of your Competitions. You’ll have a better chance of reaching your goals. It isn’t always how much we have trained but how Well and how Smart we have trained. It isn’t always how many races we have won but how well and how smart we have Competed.

4. Take Risks...be Aggressive...Look down the road...Accept the Challenges but be smart with it. Take a “Check up from the neck up”...often.
