Sunday bart tracks: 55 mins. 8.5
This is my first run at my new home. Just ran from campus. With one my team mates and he actually happens to be the one who hosted me. Just getting a run in. We discussed training and stuff, and the coaches really want to get the recovery pace a little bit faster, like close to 6 min pace for me. Which is a little hard to swallow when I have never done recovery runs faster than like 6:45. But hey this is college now and I’m at PAC12 School. Gotta get better. I am looking fwd to getting away for a while because my girlfriend recently broke up with me and I have been handling it pretty hard.

Monday: AM: Dev wu 6.5
Dev Wu stands for Developmental Warm up. Its about an hour of just mobility drills, dynamic stretching and working on some turn over.
It kind of hit me that I am going to be training with guys that are better than me again. It felt so foreign to not lead runs.

PM: First run at tahoe 4
So after Dev wu we packed up our cars and headed for lake tahoe for 3 weeks for our training camp. It is about 3 hours east of Berkeley. Then got a run in. The elevation here is 6900 feet. Which is pretty ideal for distance runners. Cause you are getting a lot of the good effects, but much higher you start to become anemic.

Tuesday: AM: 40 mins. 6 miles.
PM: 43 mins. Good run felt really good. 6.5 miles
All of the summer I have not been doubling that much I have been trying to do just longer singles. But we have been breaking up a lot of our runs here.
It is weird being out here and having to cook, clean, and do laundry for yourself. I def think this camp was good thing for transitioning into freshmen year.

Wednesday: AM: 65 mins. 9.5
PM: none
So the down time here in Tahoe has been pretty tight. Everywhere you look it looks like it should be on a post card. We are not right on Lake Tahoe, but we are about 40mins by car west of it in a place called soda springs. Our cabin is right on a small lake and there is a beach like ¾ of a mile walk away, where we have been playing a lot of beach volleyball. We also have like 3 kayaks and 3 canoes that we can take out along with some fishing stuff. Then we have also driven to a few other lakes where there are like 20 ft rocks to jump off of, A rope swing, and a zip line all into the water.

Thursday: AM: 6 in 40 mins.
They say normally by the end of the 3rd day is when you really start feel the altitude but up until this point I have felt pretty good on all the runs.

Friday; AM: 12 miles.15 min warm up. 32 min work out. 33min cool down (120 tot)
Work out went well. We did pick ups anywhere between 30 seconds to 2:30 seconds. Then we got equal rest to how long the pick up was. There were 11 of us. We started out with everyone does one pick up. But going in you never know who is next or how long they will go. When the Rest is over someone just takes off and goes until however long they want. I had some awesome work out flow. I was wearing neon brooks singlet with royal half tights, and one neon shoe and one royal shoe. For the work out I was 3/4 man with this really awesome guy names JP Slater. The only two that beat us were Collin and Matt Miller, and they have been up here at altitude for 8 more days than the rest of the team. It will be interesting to see where I stack up on the team I think I’m going to be anywhere from 3rd to 7th man. Only time will tell. After the work out today I was soooo tired all day. I think the altitude finally caught up to me. I took a 2 hr nap and still felt soo tired. Then that night we did epic mealtime with 4lbs burritos. The first like 6 bites were awesome then the rest of it was such a struggle to eat. My tummy hurt so badly afterwards. I then ended up sleeping for 10 hours that night.

Saturday: Today is our long run day. 12 at 635 pace. The altitude is definitely catching up to me at this point. We did this run some pretty knarly rolling hills. It twas tough

Bio:

Drake said to put a little about college coming up…so here we go.

I guess my college training started the weekend after state when I went out to Berkeley for my freshmen orientation to sign up for my classes. While I was there, my coaches gave me a binder with what all my summer training should be like. I will obviously be following the binder although according to the NCAA I can do whatever I want in the summer as it is supposed to be OYO (On your own). I am really excited to have this as a guideline and a structure. This is all in a build up to a summer camp I will be attending at Lake Tahoe which is at altitude the first three weeks of August before school starts.

Today (June 28th) was my third day back from running and was the first day I did what my team calls Dev Wu (Developmental Warm-up). This is basically just a bunch of technique and form stuff. Btw I happened to do it with Kent Garrett #shoutout
