The Lawrence North Wildcats were heavily loaded in the first part of the decade due to the big standout front-runner in Nef.  The Wildcats placed in the top 5 for 3 consecutive years, but there is also one big year that does not stand-out as much as it could... which was in 2004.

The 2004 campaign for Lawrence North was a dream and a nightmare all at once.  The Wildcats rolled over the competition throughout the regular season and were favored going into the tournament to take home a state title.  However, when they came up to the Franklin Central Semi State, they suffered losses to teams they had put away before.  They finished 9th, failing to advance from the state finals.

Lawrence North has been a very solid team over the past few years, although they have not been quite the power they were early on.  They are, however, a team to be reckoned with in the 4x800 relay year in and year out... which they should be this spring as well.
