Top Girls High Jumpers1/22/2012
By Coach Cash
Mackenzie Kitchel 12 Center Grove
An all state volleyball player that was one of the most sought after recruits. I have been impressed by her committment to track and field. Stuck with it, even though club volleyball presented many scheduling conflicts.
Shanelle (Danae) De Journett 11 Snider
It is hard for me to get a good read on her. I think she is at her best when she appears nervous and uneasy. Has a very smooth and graceful approach...so surprised that she doesn't do running events.
Morayo Akande 12 North Central
One of the ten best athletes in the state. She has the ability to excel at other events, but everything takes a back seat to high jump.
Rachel Mather 10 Noblesville
It would be interesting to see how she would perform in a big meet without having to pole vault. That is a very difficult combo. She jumped 5'4 1/2 in middle school.
Kylie Ballard 12 Northwestern
The best high jumper to come out of Northwestern since Megan Schubert. She is also one of the top basketball players in the state.
Kayln Davis 12 Anderson
One of the top athletes in the state. She has the ability to be all state in two or three other events.

Hanna Acton 12 Bloomington South
A very good all around athlete, and one of the top pole vaulters in the country. She has a strong build, and I am almost certain that she would be a heptathlete if it wasn't for pole vault.
Therese Wade 11 Westfield
I was going to go really negative with this one before I saw this photo: http://photos.indystar.com/galleries/inline/11663-westfield-55-pendleton-heights-43 (photo #8) Now I am too scared to say anything but nice things. She's the greatest.
Haley Bennett 12 Eastbrook
An absolute beast in volleyball. I'm not sure what her vertical is, but I'll be surprised if it is under 30 inches. Excited to see her approach this spring without club volleyball.
Carlee Hearld 11 Columbia City
She could be even better than Ashley Rhoades. Columbia City has all state caliber high jumpers almost every year, so to be the best ever at that school is really something special.
LeVisa Evans 12 Lake Central
Benefits from having a really good training partner, and really good training. Lake Central's athletes are always technically sound.
Marissa Hamilton 12 West Central
Has really good speed. I'm surprised she doesn't long jump. She has a very smooth approach. She also plays basketball and volleyball.
Sarah Wagner 11 Eastern
She is a very good miler, so it would be understandable if that caused inconsistencies with her jump perfomances. The fact that she can nail her biggest jumps after running that event is incredible.
Keina Lanman 11 Northeast Dubois
One of the few students at the school without the last name of Betz or Schultheis. Even though she had a hard time dealing with the heat, performed well at the State meet. Runs cross country during the fall.
Riley Wayco 11 Lake Central
She is incredibly tough. On the day she set the sophomore high jump record, she immediately left the meet for flu treatments. I wonder if she plans on getting the flu a little later this year...like in June. "Its gotta be the flu!"
Jenna Pfeiffer 12 Bremen
Very smooth technique. Blocks efficiently, which gets her into the air quickly. Also plays soccer and basketball.
Hadley Orr 12 Clinton Central
A top volleyball recruit that was also an all state performer. Very tall, and perfect build for a high jumper. I'm not sure if she will jump in college.
Darnikka Reeves 12 Lawrence Central
Very good basketball player. Came on late in the season. Everything seem to click for her in may, but struggled a little before that. Should be a breakout year.
Allison Manchester 12 Lowell
A versatile athlete with good speed, so she is able to do a lot of things. I think she will be a little stronger this year when she doesn't have to high jump at meets.
Da' Jaie Clay 11 Warren Central
I may be have her ranked too low, considering her new coach is Steve Smith. She has all the tools to be a great high jumper, just hasn't put it all together yet.
