Top Male 300 Meter Hurldlers

1/15/2012

Coach Cash

Reggie Smith                12         Warren Central

Has the perfect build for a hurdler, and the perfect coach to help him. Bruce Hickman is the best hurdle coach in the state.

Jacob Wright                10         Hamilton Southeastern

Connor Stapleton          11         Center Grove

What went unnoticed in last year's State Championship run, was the progress of Connor Stapleton. He was huge in Bloomington. Without him, Center Grove would have been the runner up.

Adrian Mable                 11         Fort Wayne South Side

Grant Bass                    12         Concord

He has been good for a few years. I think Anthony Yoder's injury had a negative effect on him during the first half of the season. This year he will be chasing Daniel Martin's school record.

DaQuon Brown              11         Lawrence Central

Craig Leu                      12         Lakeland

Jamey Malvern              12         Evansville Harrison

Derrick Dabney             12         Anderson

Ryan Cavender              12         Carroll

Timothy Deal                 10         Penn

Matt Dickerson              12         Greenfield Central

Troy Yarnell                   12         Griffith

His speed is off the charts. Powerful, very explosive...so why did I rank him so low? Technique.

Othie Freeny                 12         Portage

Impressive young man. Incredibly disciplined and intelligent. Two sport athlete that also participates in MCJROTC. He knows hot to win on and off of the track.

Josh Brenneman           12         Bremen

Plays soccer and basketball as well. Look for him to drop the hurdles this year in the tournament. And hopefully he will get to face off with Timothy Deal more than twice this year.

Devon Stone                 11         Wayne

Had consistent improvement all throughout the season. Dropped about 4 seconds overall. Don't sleep on his coach either, Mark Camack has been producing top hurdlers for years.

Nicholas Reese             11         Snider

The biggest question that surrounds Reese is whether or not he will have to run the 4x800 before this race. If he does, I think it will have a positive effect on him.

Jesse Adams                12         South Dearborn

His biggest issue for this year will be finding quality competition. His toughest test before the tournament is the East Central Invitational.

Montay McDowell          12         Ben Davis

Tough, strong kid with amazing leadership qualities. Lack of flexibility is a huge setback for him.

Tristan Peterson            10         Crown Point

He is the kind of kid that teams rally around. Very positive three sport star that also goes snowboarding. I think his best sport will be football, but hopefully he sticks with track through his senior year.
