Top Male 110 Meter Hurdlers
1/15/2012
Coach Cash
Jacob Wright 10 Hamilton Southeastern
He has all the talent to become the best hurdler this state has ever seen (Bryce Brown is #1 in my book), but I'm not sure if he has the desire and passion for track and field that some of the greats had.
Max Leamer 11 Fishers
The guy is a machine. Reminds me a lot of Logan Griffith. His technique in the 110's is amazing.
Jamey Malvern 12 Evansville Harrison
Another top hurdler from Evansville Harrison. Coach Tubbs needs to do a clinic. Also a versatile football player.
Zach Bray 12 Hamilton Southeastern
Two sport star that has embraced the challenge that Jacob Wright presented last year, and it was to the benefit of both runners. Had he handled the situation differently, I'm not sure that either one would have had the great season that they did.
Ronnie Posthauer 12 Fountain Central
Comes from a family of great athletes. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to face tough competition,. To his credit, he has been able to improve every year.
Adrian Mable 11 Fort Wayne South Side
He was good, but not great for the regular season. But when the tournament started, he blew up. Became a force seemingly overnight. This year, he will have a target on his back from day one.
Taylor Killings 12 Kokomo
Gone is training partner Robert Lancaster, but he has a solid crew of sprinters that he will train with.
Craig Leu 12 Lakeland
I know he played basketball last year, and I assumed he would this year as well. But his appearance in a Chicago indoor meet made me wonder if he is just focusing on track. Says a lot about his dedication.
Derrick Dabney 12 Anderson
He competes well with good competition. Needs to get more out of his races vs weaker competition, instead of simply racing to win.
Matt Dickerson 12 Greenfield Central
One of the top long jumpers in the state as well. He is a two time all state football player as well.
Jimmy Herman 12 Carmel
One of the 10 best athletes in the state. May attempt a rare combination of events: Discus, long jump, and both hurdle races. How is that for versatile?
Ryan Cavender 12 Carroll
Played linebacker in football. That should speak volumes of his intensity and aggressiveness.
DaQuon Brown 11 Lawrence Central
Improved a lot last year, especially in the 110's. He was thought to be a specialist at 300 hurdles. I could see him easily droppin half a second off of his best time from last year.
Ra'Vante Babbit 12 Fort Wayne North Side
Needs a stronger finish to really be amongst the elites in the state. Awesome potential.
Andrew Kittridge 11 Valparaiso
Has a really thick build for a hurdler, but is extremely strong towards the end of his races. Very good technique.
Tyshon Billingsley 11 Northrop
Faded big time shortly after indoor season. He should be heathly this year, and it will set him up for a special season.
Timothy Deal 10 Penn
Just a great athlete, and for a athlete to excel at two very technical events - long jump and hurdles - it says a lot about his dedication to the sport, and his track IQ.
Deante Mahome 12 Gary West Side
Very muscular build, looks more like a short sprinter than a hurdler. Very good running back in football.
Nathan Cook 10 Wawasee
I'm going to have to do some research and see if he will have the same hurdle coach that worked with Anthony Argentino.
Evan Tandy 10 Center Grove
He had the best freshman year that a Center Grove hurdler has had since Jordan Luallen. But is he more like a Luke Swift? Hmm....
Greg McCloud 12 Hammond
Very dedicated runner, and works hard to improve the little things. A lack of a challenging schedule makes for some inconsistencies in his performance.
